Re: two questions

What Capt says about thinner wheels is accurate at least for how FS13 applies it. The mid-range Duetz tractor (420?430?) is the only one that says it's got care wheels. there are two versions of it, one with care wheels and one without - the care wheels one has super thin wheels (and tips over reall...

Re: Growing corn

I also do corn farming for produce, not just for silage - main reason being that if all I harvest is wheat/barley the prices go down. By the time I can afford the nicer harvester, the maize/beets planter (which answers the OP's question of how to plant it), and the specific corn header - wheat/barle...

Agreed on BigTony - is quite a good Hagenstedt edit, if that's what you're after. Didn't like the last version, but the latest is a big improvement.

Re: Becoming a millionaire off silage??

No problem, always happy to chip in. FYI teddering is only for when you want to bale it, and use the bales in a feed mixer for cows. Unteddered grass is picked up by the forage wagon for the silage silos. p.s. you'd find six week old rants about bale and frontloader fork mechanics too if the forum k...

Re: Becoming a millionaire off silage??

I ranted about this a bit maybe six weeks ago. We did a heap of analysis on various approaches as a forum community. Bottom line, you get yields several multiples higher for chaff, and the rate is essentially always a "Great demand" (since there are no great demands for silage like other c...

Re: Forage Harvester Trailer

the 17k volume red trailer can be connected, but it's basically useless given the volume of chaff yield. Hardly anyone bothers with that - everyone I know just uses a hired worker on the Krone, and drives a tipper beside it (I use the 61k semi-trailer).

Re: selling grass

It doesn't come out - it's a selling point not a storage point. (and yes it does accept grass and pay you for it, but silage can be made from grass. Silage is worth 8 times what raw grass is worth - at the biogas plant hopper) The only ways to store straw are to bale it and stack the bales someplace...

Re: what do i use

the green sower, #6001 I believe, does maize and beets. (maize is corn, fyi).
there is a specific potato planter in the potato harvesting section of the store.

There's a mod of the big 15m green sower that does everything.

Re: Krone Xdisc

The Krone Big M is the mower - the Krone Big X is a forage harvester. X turns whatever you harvest into 'chaff', which you then put into a silo to make silage. The Xdisc attachment looks like a mower as you point out, however what it produces is 'chaff' - and it does this for everything that's not c...

Re: Modify # of fields to start a new downloaded map

you can also start a game on your map, save it...then go to that particular savegame folder and edit the economy.xml file to determine which fields you already own. ^^ -- this is a much easier way. The fields list is easy to find in this file (use Notepad++, which is free) -- just set them to true ...

Re: Cultivate, Plant, fertilize-Spray

Use the sowers that don't require cultivation, for starters. Of the two big red Horsch planters, the 2nd one is like that (DC9??). They only do the normal 3 grains. There's a mod of the big green 15 meter one that plants everything. If I can find a mod of the red horsch that plants everything I'll u...
