Retain tree type configuration for processing.

Post by Katra »

Hi,

Is there a way to reference or seperate cut wood into it's original tree species? The idea is to have productions based on specific wood species or types (hardwood/softwood) but I dont know if it's possible to facilitate that given all cut timber gets grouped as "wood" although based on sellprice/liters per piece of wood there must be some information retained as different tree species sell for different price per litre and retain species specific materials/textures

Additionally, is there a way to edit the litres per tree type? Or is that hard coded?

The answer that might not be evident from the post is that the production where you deposit the wood needs to have specific outputs defined. Base game productions "lose" the wood type when they process the wood. ie All base game planks are generic planks and this is true in most but not all modded productions.

The information about treetype and volume of a log is only retained whilst it is a log. As soon as it is processed that information is discarded. (and superceded by the information relevant to whatever it becomes.) And yes conversion of treetype to volume based on species is hardcoded.

Most of what you said is true. Bot nothing is hardcoded. Nearly anything can be changed with scripts. So KATRA, the mod answers your question. Notice I’m processing tree species
