How to fix a shader fail

I read the post by Lethian a while back explaining what shader fails are and how to interpret their fail response when sent back and it was very informative. However, as a complete beginner to textures and shaders, i do not understand where these options that need fixed are located. Where do you find the parameters that either need to be added or are in excess? Can anyone explain this in a little more detail for me or point me to a good source that is already out there? Thank you. I appreciate any help! Below is one of the fails for example.
