What would you consider to be the first modern tractor?
My vote would have to go to the Massey-Ferguson 35 equipped with Ferguson's three point, optional diff lock, live/pto hydraulics and powered by the Perkins a3.125 standard while American tractors still had diesel engines as an option.
Although the fe35 predates the mf35 it still had the hydraulics dependent on the pto shaft. I don't know if the 35 deluxe had live hydraulics, if so than it takes my vote instead despite having diesel as an option rather than standard.
Also we discuss what is the criteria for a modern tractor is.

Honestly? I wonder what the John Deere 6R with the brand new and modern 5Plus CommandCenterTM display would look like here. Plus the new 7R with up to 50% more steering,. All 7, 8 and 9 Series tractors feature the new high-resolution corner post display and the integrated StarFireTM 7000 receiver. These are interesting developments for me.

Could qualify in the age of computerizing tractors.LatestKing wrote: ↑Thu Sep 28, 2023 1:30 pm Honestly? Re: First Modern tractor?
I though I would add an update.
I asked the German off topic a while back and the consensus came to the Ferguson te20 due to it having hydraulics and pto thus being able to more than stationery engines, draft animals and old tractors that only had drawbar pull and belt drive.
