demolition company installation failure

HI, can anyone help me out. i bought this game but it won't work on my sons computer. when the disc is in it won't install from Cdstart, i have to go to the set up option and install it that way, then when it is installed it won't play! i just keep getting microsoft errors such as "GIANTS launcher has experienced a problem and needs to close".
when i installed it on my own computer it worked no problem. both systems are running on windows xp 2000 home edition. i have updated the drivers via NVIDIA.com, i have checked OpenGL version and both are running on 2.1, both systems have plenty of free memory too. what could be the problem? i was wondering if it could be the graphics card, but i know nothing about those things really. i've tried playing around with the compatibility settings too but no luck and i have even taken his computer out of parental control incase that was conflicting but the issues remain the same and my 9yr old is mortified so any help/advice would be great.

What CPU do you have? It has to support SSE2.

it's an AMD Athlon XP 1800+ i've googled it and it supports sse. So does that mean i either replace the cpu or get rid of the game? My son has other games on his pc that work fine

It is possible that you need to update your BIOS. It may be that the XP 1800 + otherwise does not support SSE.

it does support SSE but there's no mention of SSE2, however the other computer i tried the game on successfully has a different CPU and that does support SSE,SSe2 and 3 SO...bearing in mind i am not technically minded lol, if you feel i do need to update BIOS, is this suggestion a simple one and if so how and where do i find the update needed and how do i process it?

find out which motherboard you have. On the manufacturing side of the boards usually find support for your BIOS. Many manufacturers offer updates for the BIOS, you can flash from Windows. Otherwise it should be done by a professional.
