I'd say play around with the skip lanes function, on smaller trailed stuff I use that all the time to get rid of the slow reversing of the tractors, and it works great. you can also play with the lands feature (somewhere on the bottom of the generation window)

are you playing with seasons? in my experience seasons on hard difficulty is a pretty slow game, especially if you stay away from animals and BGA

well you can also set the application rate manually, so if you want to seed Corn for instance you would need to look up how mucht Nitrogen you need per hectare for corn on the given soil typ and apply that to the soil. just like a farmer in real life would do
