Re: New to farming? Ask questions here:

Also FYI, the workers charge a good bit more for fuel, seeds and fert than it costs you to buy them from the shop/refill point.

Re: sheep in seasons MOD

You should be able to put the hay bale in a feed mixer and unload that at the feed trough if it doesn't accept bales.
I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think you can store loose hay with seasons, unless you use a hayloft.

Re: Upcoming West Coast map

Question about field 14. I'm using the Seasons mod day 3 settings. I planted soybean on day 1 and on the 2nd day the field went back to harvested mode. Basically all the work on that field was erased. Only on that field. Anybody knows whats the problem? You can't plant soybeans on the first day of ...

Re: Starting Tactics

The way I play depends on the map, but I only play with seasons. For example, on The West Coast, I sold the combine and most of the starting implements, keeping the tractors. Bought a fert spreader and a mid sized Jympa plough, set some workers on fertilising, ploughing and seeding wheat, barley and...

Re: I so want this in the game :D

It's alright for them on their boys ground, soil dropping straight through the webs and trucks able to get around on the fields! If you tried that around here you'd be pulling a lot of stuck trucks out! Some of the fields we harvest it can take a pair of 200+hp tractors to pull a half loaded 14 ton ...

Re: Seasons mod.

Thanks for clearing that up, Rahkiin. I thought I'd read somewhere that it only affected repair costs.

Re: Seasons mod.

As I understand it, it applies to driveable vehicles, and reduces the repair costs, not the daily maintenance, but I haven't tested.

Re: New cultivated field & grass

I see what you're saying now, sorry. You can use the lizard roller to create a border between your grass field and your arable field, it will revert to it's original state and will not get cultivated. If you make it at least the width of your largest cultivator/seeder then hired workers should see i...

Re: New cultivated field & grass

If you plough or cultivate grass, you get a ploughed/cultivated field. If you want the field as permanent grass, just don't plough or cultivate it, it will grow again. The 10% loss of yield for not ploughing doesn't really amount to much.

Re: Grass picks up as straw

To start, remove all map mods from your mods folder except the one you are using, as the game loads every mod on startup and this can cause conflicts. If that doesn't help, rename your mods folder to, for example, mods1. Then start a new savegame on one of the in game maps and see if the problem per...

Re: Plough/Cultivate

Several seeders will work on freshly harvested fields, without the need to cultivate first. These have a note in the store description to that effect.

Re: Seasons mod.

IRL there are many 'winter' varieties of common crops which are hardy and can survive being planted in autumn for harvest the following year, this is reflected in the behaviour of seasons, which lets you sow wheat, barley and canola in autumn, allowing them to be harvested earlier the following year...

Thanks for all the help guys, just wondering what's the name of the xml file, I can edit that confidently enough... thanks... It's the careersavegame.xml file that you want to edit, in the savegamex folder (where X is the number of the save game). Just open the file and search for money, that will ...
