Re: Vehicles and their engines

I haven't met more than two drivers with approximately the same language skills as me (swedish, norwegian or english..) , that have been driving Renault. One of them just hated it. He was used to drive Scania.. The other one was the owner of the same truck and it was his second or third Renault... S...

Re: Vehicles and their engines

Anyone, correct me if I'm wrong but the Sisu from Finland might not have synchro. Atleast they use american engines. Caterpillar I believe.. Correct, TheSwede *thumbsup* Kiitos Alf :hi: Regarding Renault engines in the Sisus.. When did Renault start using Volvo engines in their trucks? Is there any...

Re: Vehicles and their engines

I found this powercurve for Volvos 13 litre engines. The dotted line is the tourque and the other line is horsepower. Tourque is what you want ☺️
Picture might be a bit small, sorry about that!

Re: Vehicles and their engines

The slapover box, how does it work? Do you slap the stick to the left or right to shift between high and low split? I know nothing except Volvo and Scania manual transmissions and automatic Volvo, Scania, old Mercedes Actros and the two worthless MAN we have at work...

Re: Vehicles and their engines

the only euro trucks i can recall not having snycro in modern times are the ERF's and fodens with the eaton twin splitter. These were a pig to get used to but once you were used to it they were awesome. Anyone, correct me if I'm wrong but the Sisu from Finland might not have synchro. Atleast they u...

Re: Vehicles and their engines

I'll attempt this one. Truck transmissions are not synchronized like a car. This means in a manual truck you must learn to either double clutch or float (timing the transmission to shift without using the clutch at all). There is roughly a 300 RPM drop between gears. If you come out of 9th gear at ...

Re: Vehicles and their engines

You're saying it's better to drive uphill for ex. at 8th gear at ~1500 RPM than 6, 7th gear at ~1800 or so? It's all about the tourque and you get the best tourque at those rpm.. But the lack of gearboxes in the game make it sound like a slipping clutch.. If I had hired you to drive a truck, a Scan...

Re: Vehicles and their engines

50 ton in a 420 is torture lol. They reckon 10hp per ton. Yep, and in addition to that, driving in the Norwegian mountains *thumbsup* Actually, one of the american trucks in FS19 sound exactly like a 6 cylinder Scania when idling!! He he, this thread reminded me of an old video I ma...

Re: Vehicles and their engines

Pretty much how I used to drive a Scania R420 in real life except I usually started on 1 to save the clutch. 👍😊 Do you even step on the gas at all on 1, or just use the clutch to start rolling? Just a little bit of gas, but ofcourse, it all depends on grossweight, is it a flat road or maybe a sligh...
