Play the base game maps if you want to reduce risk. Nothing is guaranteed when adding mods to the mix....or giants updates lol.

Sounds like a well thought out mod. You could have a look at the xml for other pallets to see if you can use any data from them. Should be in the [FS Install]->data->objects->pallets folder

Might be silly question, but did you make sure time was moving forward? Try setting to max speed for a while to see if anything changes, if you haven't already.
