You could probably fix the tree issue (no forestry) by replacing the tree files in the mod contents. I haven't looked into it much so I'm not sure how extensive that would be. Bales being broken on Medicine Creek is a big let down though. I mean you can still bale, you just can't really use the bale...

It's not like a shortcut keybinding for game controls. If they made a custom input command in the mod to trigger the gates, then changing keybindings won't impact this feature. You should be building your scenegraph tree before setting the physical XYZ/translation of the model in the 3D view.

Map looks good, but I play using controller. A big disappointment if the gates only work by mouse input and not also controller input. Can someone confirm/deny if it's only mouse input to work the gates?

Just curious, what happens if you try and place it using a controller? And what ricky said, we'd need more. Straw bale on the trigger zone for the straw input. If the straw isn't automatically applied then you need a straw spredder. Haven't played on this map yet, but all the cattle barns work the same.

Run us a list of mods you got. Maybe you're running a mod that's disabled fuel usage.
EDIT: On 6 day seasons, half a tank is gone and I'n not even midway through summer on year 1 with my medium tractor. I have zero mods installed that impact fuel in any way.

If you're on Medicine Creek map, you can grow Soybean for straw and feed.
With the straw harvest DLC coming out soon, I think we might even see more ways to get straw/hay and more use of them.

You need to change the temperature maximum and precipitation amount for the phases you want to have warmer with less chances of snow.
