Are you sure the drivers for the nVidia card are fully uninstalled? You might want to completely remove all video card drivers and reinstall the 390x drivers fresh. If it helps any at all, I mainly get lag only when crops are shown on my screen. When crops aren't being shown on screen there is no lag at all.

Tried advanced system care, got old drivers updated (reboot afterwords) still no luck. This started occurring when I upgraded to the R9 390X graphics card. My 960 by MSI nvidia didn't lag this bad and neither card is refurbished.

Maybe try updating the bios on the 390X? But how do I go about this?
