Re: ALFALFA?

Soooo.... Does afalfa have to reach a certain growth stage before it can be mowed? It is on the final green stage now, but it can't be mowed. Looking to bale it for hay since using it for silage was a bust. Done with alfalfa after this round for sure.

Re: ALFALFA?

So, back again. Alfalfa is showing in final growth state, I'm a bit impatient, no answers, so I try cutting a load to go towards silage. Btw, I'm on Stone Valley and PS4. I'm using the 8600i JD harvester with the hook lift rig (not sure what to think about it quite yet, but that's a different subjec...

Re: ALFALFA?

Update... I attempted to mow Alfalfa in last green growth state; not happening. Haven't tried yet, but I assume i also need to wait on chopping it for silage?

Re: ALFALFA?

I too am on my first run with Alfalfa and have a couple of questions. I planted a large amount on Stone Valley and plan to use it for hay and silage. It on the darkest green of growing stages now. I assume what I'm going to cut and bale for hay should be cut now? Also, for the silage, do I cut it no...

Re: Screenshots

That's a good looking pic Fenix. I would have thought Seasons would've prevented harvesting in snow because of moisture. Appears it's possible, or is the ability to do so because settings can be altered with your PC? You can turn crop moisture off in the Seasons settings. I'm on Xbox. Thanks for th...

Re: Screenshots

Really pushing it to get done this year. Crops came up late due to a very cold spring, thus they didn't get ready to harvest until late fall. I just barely finished soybeans and sunflowers before this snow. This is the first time harvesting in snow in FS. Love it! https://image.giants-software.com/...

Re: Stone valley seasons console

How many days in? I'm on 12 day seasons, and I think it may have been day 4 at least before mine made it up to 41 degrees. I think I'm on 5 or 6 now and still not up to temp for corn or beans.

Re: Oregon Springs for 19?

I heard the same, Chedley. Unfortunately, no recent updates that I've seen anywhere. That ended up being my favorite map on FS17.

Re: Stone Valley questions

Thanks for the assistance fella's. Sounds like I'll be selling a lot of silage to the local BGA and coming up with a different plan in the "Fall" for next year's planting. Still have a lot of corn ground left to disc up, bit with ground temps so cold, I suppose I've got plenty of time. Just ready to...

Re: Stone Valley questions

Planning several. My hope is to put up silage, hay, etc this season, and bring in cows this fall or winter. Hoping to start at 100 head of beef cattle, maybe more. Right now I'm on day 5 of spring I believe (12 day seasons at 5x speed). I've haven't even planted yet; ground temp still in low 40's. I...

Re: Stone Valley questions

Ok, so I've planted about 130 acres of Alfalfa. If I've read correctly through this thread, I can cut this for silage with a silage cutter, right? Should be able to use the Krone, Claas, etc? Then, it grows back? Will there need to be further fertilization after I've cut it? I've farmed corn, wheat,...
