Re: Are pigs worth it?

Trying them for first time. I believe they will be. Bought the Yorkshire breed. They have quite the reproduction rate! Mrsealyp did a very good tutorial on them that would be worth watching

Bit of an odd discovery

Recently playing on Welkerr farms, harvesting with the new JD S790 trying to beat the rain. Turns out, I didn't need to rush! The rain started, the machine kept right on harvesting. Anyone else had this happen? Playing on PS4, no seasons

Re: Does alfa alfa regrow?

So the worst word in farm Sim is " realistic". So I'm not going to say realiistic, just tell you that in my neck of the woods, a typical alfalfa crop (in Reno county KS) will get you 3-5 cutting per year. A typical alfalfa crop, in Reno county KS, will last between 5-7 years. After that, the alfalfa...

Re: Equipment opinions sought

What is your goal/endgame for the map? To farm just a few fields? To buy and operate every field? If it is the latter, I wouldn't sell either one. Those fields are pretty fair-sized; you can easily have all 4 of those going at the same time. How many slots have you used? For a difference of only 8 s...

Re: Stupid questions from a non-farmer

1). Yes, IRL, they do very different things. It's all about breaking up compaction, and residue management. A quick search on YouTube "primary vs secondary tillage" should give you a good idea about what the implements are designed to do. No idea on #2. As for #3, the proper amount of weight reduces...

A huge thanks to Shaba

What he has done with his old farm countryside map is nothing short of amazing. One map, now a total of seven new crop types available for the PS4 and Xbox. Thank you so much for this! I am set up with old equipment on this map. Just farming to be farming. And loving every minute of it. Appreciate y...

Re: Increased fuel consuption

It's kind of a workaround, but once I have a vehicle low on fuel, I only refill it to 1/4 to 1/3 of a tank. Forces me to keep an eye on the guage, and refill on a regular basis

No idea. Miss him though. He has went offline in the past, citing health reasons when he returns. This may be his longest leave of absence yet. I do know people have tried to message him, but have not received a response.

Re: Crop rotation?

I guess it just depends on how you farm. Gray stubble where we farm means it was sprayed to keep weeds down. We do some organic, so we actually encourage growth in the stubble, then turn it under for green manure. Or recently, we started drilling sun hemp immediately after wheat harvest. Grows amazi...

Re: Crop rotation?

If I may inquire, why would you want that in the game? Different farmers, different growing regions, different rotations. Or no rotations at all, (i.e. continual wheat ground). The best option would seem to be to just keep track yourself, the way real farmers do

Re: Back to FS17 for me

Playing on PS4, staying on fs17 (Oregon springs). Haven't checked in a few days, but fs 19 is currently unplayable for me due to the "invert y axis" not working properly. Will give it a go once that issue is solved. Bit of a shame. When I made the leap from 15 to 17, never looked back. Now I feel li...

Ok, going to play the dunce role,(very familiar with it) here. WTH are "fruits"? Did I miss something on the map? I didn't see any orchards or anything.

Re: Question about fs19 game modes

TY drmatt. Curious how this is going to work. Around here, we rarely see entire farms/estates sold. Usually just a quarter, or half-section at a time. Developers never enter our local area. Too far away from anything to be attractive to them I guess

Question about fs19 game modes

This is concerning buying farms vs buying fields. Obviously we haven't heard everything yet, but I heard someone say in an interview that this concept seems "more realistic". I think most often(myself included) realism equals how it's done or seen where you live. So, in my case, we farm in central K...
