Re: Would you be interested in a maintenance based DLC?
I liked this mod ... https://www.farming-simulator.com/mod.php?lang=en&country=gb&mod_id=191007&title=fs2019 ... on FS19 The way that maintenance took time was especially good, as that is a major factor in running a machine fleet. It was a bit too expensive for my play-style, and I pref...

Would you be interested in a maintenance based DLC?
As a followup to this post , I think that the current maintenance system is lacking realism and playing incentive for the gamer. While I find it extremely improbable that Giants totally reworks maintenance with a patch, it could be interesting to explore the probability of a maintenance themed DLC, ...

Re: Cost of owning vehicles/equipment - Optimal time to replace - Detailed cost analysis
I'm guessing 40-50h would match most play styles. You can always phase out older equipment and use them in odd jobs, while using newer/bigger to keep maintenance and work hours low. That's the natural evolution of most farms. Honestly I'm more interested in a maintenance revamp from Giants after fin...

Re: Cost of owning vehicles/equipment - Optimal time to replace - Detailed cost analysis
Part 5. Summary As it seems, your first reply to my question was correct but I had a good time trying to validate it. Keeping equipment forever, but repairing as soon as possible is the most economic decision game wise. And this is where Giants can do better. First and foremost, adding damage while...

Re: Cost of owning vehicles/equipment - Optimal time to replace - Detailed cost analysis
Part 4. Deciding when to replace Now this is the part where I'm trying to answer my initial question. Could there be an optimal time to replace your equipment? The short answer is it doesn't seem so. But there can be a time when it's almost the same cost. It's dependent on something most players do...

Re: Cost of owning vehicles/equipment - Optimal time to replace - Detailed cost analysis
Part 3. Devaluation As you've mentioned, its clear that equipment loses value depending on operatingTime and age. I've managed to calculate the individual part very close to the actual results, by keeping each part at zero one at a time, but the final result seems off. Again, it seems there's somet...

Part 2. Cost of repairs My findings match yours exactly. The formula seems correct as 0.09*(damage^1.5)*price I agree that this is overly simplistic, but I will summarize my comments on the last part. Some more python scripts for testing. def repairCost(price, damage): return (0.09 * pow(damage, 1....

Re: Cost of owning vehicles/equipment - Optimal time to replace - Detailed cost analysis
Hello, first off all thanks again for your effort on analyzing the maintenance game mechanics. Out of respect for your work I've decided to post my own findings as a reply to your thread, commenting where I managed to make improvements. I've split the analysis in parts. Part 1. Damage taken over tim...

Re: Cost of owning vehicles/equipment - Optimal time to replace - Detailed cost analysis
It seems you've put a lot of work to produce those results, thank you for the analysis. :hi: I'm trying to figure out from your findings, what would be less costly: A) Buy a tractor and keep it forever, regular maintenance, never repaint B) Buy a tractor keep it until X engine hours, regular mainten...

Re: Hard economy cost/income evaluation of fieldwork.
I've also had my share of playing on hard and the most profitable routes I've found are: - Greenhouses - A field of Barley and chickens - A field of Grass and Sheep, turn excess grass to silage for sale After seeing the pattern, I gave up on difficulty modes. While it might seem intriguing when tryi...

That's how it could have been done right away, apparently not, but we play and everything works fine for us!!!

Re: Binding ideas for CVS transmissions on shifter?
I'm waiting delivery of a JCB 4CX shuttle lever to use for this. Do you mean the real thing, i.e., not a USB controller, and that you are then going to customize it for game usage using something like an Arduino controller? If so, I do love the sound of that, but I’m wary of the expense and technic...

Re: Buhrer tractor and Mercedes-Benz badge.
Easily the quickest 5-10€ I'd give for a DLC.this_is_gav wrote: ↑Mon Dec 20, 2021 1:09 pm That would make a nice equipment DLC. A couple of MB Tracs, a Unimog, a truck or two and a few bits of forestry equipment to keep WF & I happy.

Re: Buhrer tractor and Mercedes-Benz badge.
I'd think that the MB-Trac and the Unimog would be some of the first things a farming game made in Germany would license.
