You need to use Giants Editor. Do you have GE installed? And you will need Notepad++.

Look at one of the base-game planter+fertilizer tools as a reference. Most of the planters do both.

It sounds like you have only added the fillunit and not the fertilizer function. You also need to add <sprayer> in xml.

Lolz, good catch TheSuBBie. I've done that starting out.

EDIT: to clarify, in both of those cases, the obj would still import, but be unusable or undetectable. In one case it would be way too big and the other too far away.

Also, if the new hood clips into the original hood, then the original hood needs to be a separate part, so it can be removed when the new hood is added.

Go into the in-game store and look for a vehicle or tool with a selection of body configurations. Use that vehicle's i3D and xml as your guide. There are dozens of vehicles and tools with different body configurations. I would try to find the simplest item (trailer?), so that the xml is less complic...

No, that doesn't look right. I think it is a separate configuration. I don't know what else is in the other config, try putting the blades in this config.
