Winch grooming

Post by iskibetterthanu »

I am wondering if any body can build a mod to allow the pistonbully 600w to actually winch a run.
I am talking about adding the winch as an extra implement and actually being able to winch down a run.

I know this is a little late( a few years) but if anyone gets this you can download the ATM winch mods and maps. There is a workign winch and posts in their maps and vehicles. http://www.austrianmodding.at/reference/dlfzg_wm.html

I've heard of winch grooming slopes but I've never seen it. That would be interesting to see. Does anyone have a picture of it or know where on the web to get one? I think if those of us that have never experienced it could see it then maybe we'd understand a little better.

Hi,

there are a lot of videos available on common platforms like Youtube. I think this video gives you a good impression on how winch grooming is done: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qhynZLlX4o .

Winch grooming enables these vehicles to push snow towards the mountain. This is important because skiers push it in the opposite direction, and the snow would accumulate below steep segments making these segments icy and hard to pass for skiers.
The second important advantage is that snowcats are able to climb at slopes with higher steepness without the risk of beginning to skid.
