Question a about food mixing for cows

Post by lizard_king »

Ok, I have the Kuhn Profile 1880.
I loaded 1 square bale of Straw and 1 bale of Hay.
I loaded 1 load of silage using the Weidemann 4270 CX100 T with the Silage Cutter.
This got me 66.66% Hay, 33.33% Straw and only .01% Silage?
What am I doing wrong here?

I found the towed mixer to be a bit buggy when it comes to silage.

If I put in the bales first, the silage appeared to simply be wasted - the volume in the mixer wouldn't go up and it would say I had 0.01% sileage. I wasted 100k sileage trying out various things but I ended up with this solution:

1) Move the mixer away from the trough - I keep a small tractor on it, and just back it up straight 10 meters.
2) Put the silage in first, in a measured amount (6k for me).
3) Then put in the bales - 2 hay and 1 straw.
4) Move the mixer back to the trough and unload.

That works perfect, but if I go back and put in bales first I get the same trouble.
