activating the game from Steam

Does anyone know how to activate the game from Steam? My son just purchased FS 15 from Game Stop. According to the directions, He is supposed to activate it from Steam, but I been trying for hours to find out how or even any kind of help from them, and there isn't any help, nor does it say "activate" anywhere under the games menu, where it's supposed to be.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,

For it to be activated on Steam, you have to get through Steam.

Just pop the disc in, click on the setup.exe, do the following installation, insert product key, and bam.

I have the disc version and it doesn't say that, you must have gotten a dud game? Farming Simulator 15 does not require you to do a Steam activation, that's why it is not making you able to install it with Steam.

There should be an activation code on the recipt or steam card

He bought it online, - downloaded it. The directions said to download steam and make an account, which we did, then in the games menu, click "activate on the game", but it's not listed, nor does it say anywhere "activate".

So did you buy it on Steam or GIANTS Direct Download?

He got in online through Game Stop.

That is odd, just looked at GameStop's website and says you need Steam. I would highly not recommend downloading FS anywhere, but GIANTS-direct or Steam. Have you contacted GameStop about the problem?

That's the first thing I did. I know the manager of our local store, and he didn't know anything about it. I can't find any way to contact Steam. He got it from Game Stop, because he had a gift card. I'm really upset over this. Steam should have a way to at least email them for help. That's why I thought to ask on here, figured it wouldn't hurt.
