W1der would be your number one man for forestry!

Buy a chainsaw, go up to a tree, look for a green circle around it (bottom) and then left click or "X" and that's how you cut it.

Buy a Ponsee Scorpion, unfold it by pressing "B", get really close to the tree but not touching, then press "X" when it says you can on the help menu.

I hope I addressed somethings how to do it. :smileynew:

Start a new game on Bjornholm ... there is an in game tutorial there, for the basics of tree cutting, if I remember it correctly.
If you have any questions after that ... I will be here for you! ... :)

A tip ... when cutting the tree ... "crouch" and make the cut completely level (do not tilt the blade) ... the precision cut is made automatically, making the tree fall in the direction of your cut.

Thanks....will do *thumbsup* I bought a chainsaw and the little trailer crane to pull behind my tractor. I walked up to a random tree, managed to start the chainsaw, moved the mouse around and nothin' happened. Didn't see any green circle. Crouch eh? I know how to jump but I don't know how to crouch. I'll have to look into that logging tutorial.

Started and saved a game in Bjornholm but I don't see a forestry tutorial anywhere. Still haven't figured out how to crouch. I'm going to check YouTube for a gameplay video on forestry.

I believe to crouch you hit CTRL, but it's been a while since I've done that.

Ya'll forgot to mention the most important part. Pull out the chainsaw, button 1, 2 or 3, right click to orient the saw to the cutting position Then walk up to the tree and slowly move the saw up and down till you get the green? blue? lighted circle to show. Sometimes you might have to work your way around the tree to get the lighted circle to appear. Left click to cut. Here's a quick video.

Sorry ... I might be remembering things wrong from when I started playing.
But I know there is some kind of tree cutting tutorial somewhere within the game.

Youtube videos is your best friend when it comes to FS15 ... *thumbsup*

Yep that's what it is. Found a game play video that gave me lots of good info so I went and bought a chainsaw and messed around with it for a bit but I decided I was a horrible logger, so I won't be getting into that.

That statement is 1000% accurate. It's certainly made easier with practice and also a joystick makes things a little easier as well. I actually hated forestry in the beginning and swore I'd never do it again. But I took a deep breath, setup the joystick to work along side my G27 wheel and pedals and practiced. I then practiced some more and even more. I recorded a short YouTube video on how I got both working together. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3_Mo9jzw2g Perhaps someone might be interested.

If you have a few problem trees (most maps do) that seem to always get in the way, then I would recommend just cutting them down as close to the ground as possible. Then (if you are on PC) use a mod like the Bruks woodchipper mounted on the front of a tractor with a tipper on the back http://lsmod2015.com/bruks-v-1-0/ Finally, come along afterwards with in game stump grinder.

personally i prefer the FL mounted bruks choipper as it alowls better grinding at points where there are deviations in the ground comparded to the rigid front mount chipper:
