Number of bales

Post by Cajunwolf »

I was reading something about a limit on the number of bales of straw and hay you can stock up in one of the threads I can't find now, and the game engine will remove the oldest you have in the stock pile as you create new one when over this limit. Is this true, and if so, what is the limit on bales?

I know there is hard limit for the console version, like 100 or something like that. On the PC, I think you could just keep on baling a few thousand bales or so before it actually corrupts the savegame.

But I haven't actually tried this for myself, so I could be wrong.

i know of a friend, who had something around 400 - 500 bales on an Multiplayer game in FS 13
it started to get laggy and such but the game didn't seem to remove any and the savegame wasn't corrupt so i guess we dont have a limit on PC's other than your performance

Yeah, I was reading around after I posted last night and was reading that a lot of guys were baling 2000 to 3000 in a single go, even stacked in one place, and not even affecting their computers in the slightest. But of course they had very high end computers.

I don't want 2000 bales, but also don't want to the game to do away with any of the bales I made because It took a lot of time and money to make them. I want to be able to keep 200 bales of straw and hay on hand for my cattle at all times. The rest I sell as loose straw or grass.

I have 300 straw and 200 hay in stock on all three maps, and that's just the right amount with 40 cows for one game week, and with plenty to spare just in case.

40 cows will consume about 10,000 L TMR per day. Over a week that's only 70,000. If you use the hay balls and wrap them for silage then you only need 6 wrapped bales, 6 hay and 6 straw, you will have an extra 2000 L TMR every week using 6 of each bale.

At that rate those 200 hay bales will provide feed for 36 days if you are wrapping them for silage, 72 days if you already have silage.

Well I'm using square bales, no round, so I can't wrap them, which is no problem. As to silage, I'm up to my ears in it; I have at least 4 bins full to 50%+ on each map. When the cattle bin gets low, I send a trailer full over and dump it. Cattle are not my main focus, I just added 20 to make it 40, but I now have 9 plus fields under cultivation on all three maps with wheat and Barley, and 2 under cultivation with corn for silage. This will keep me busy until release day. I'm really glad to hear they are carrying over Sosnovka, it's one fine map with a lot of attention to detail.

Those bales will last a long time so. I was simply pointing out for 40 cows, 300 straw and 200 hay bales was overkill.

I know, but I kind of got carried away with the bailing thing, and at least I want have to mess with it for awhile. I hate cutting grass, but balings kind of fun, if one doesn't over do it.

I don't know what's a bigger pain in the backsides, handling bales or logs; they both seem to have a mind of their own.
