I will be starting a Battle of the Mowers (Lawn Mowers). I will pick two mowers and you will vote for which one is picked. You have ONE WEEK to vote and then a winner is chosen. Every Wednesday, there will be a new lawn mower battle. There will be 10 Rounds, then finals and such.

I vote for the John Deere 317, as its not a John Deere 318, and has a better power to weight ratio, which is important if your going to race them!

you do race lawnmower in the US? (with more than 3 left corners that you at lest turn right a couple of times! )

I have to agree with b101uk ... mainly cause I do not know anything about these things ... but what he said sounds about "right".

I do not race, but I have always wanted to do that! I would like to take my mower up to my grandparents, because they have a x475 w/ 54" deck and I would race them with my 318. But I can see why you voted for the 317, it is a great machine. My grandpa had a 317 and I used it and fell in love. Love at first sight. But he sold it to buy a Cub Cadet, but the 318 I have was his but he past away so it got past down to me.

My vote: JD318 I just love how it has Power Steering and goes evenly on each side. It has 1 more hp, but most of the 317's got an Onan 18 hp re-power (like the 318's had originally.) in them because of the Kohler engines weren't that good, if I am mistaken? My engine has the B43E.

JD 317 (Remember: 317's NEVER came with a 50" thick deck! Only the 318's came with one, so this one is modified.):



JD 318 (Remember: This is a 46" deck, which is a thin deck. The 317's came with this deck standard. 318's could've had the 46" thin (which I LOVE) or the 50".):
