How much cash do you keep available for operating expenses and incidentals?

I only have a small farm with 2 tractors, 1 combine and 2 field. I try keep $20,000 in the bank for operating expenses and incidentals.

You are doing great! I always try to keep at least 5-10k in pocket when not cheating. :smileynew:

Well ... I try keeping my loan at zero ... so that I can use the bank credit, in case of an emergency ... ;)

As W1der pointed out. I try to manage my FS finances just as I do in real life. so paying off the loan is a priority for me. Then I make every effort to pay cash for everything as much as I can. I also heavily utilize the rental mod when just starting out as well. Doing it this way just helps to keep the game interesting. If I cheat in a lot of money up front (and I've certainly done that before) then the game gets boring to me pretty quickly.

I never knew we can bank money. I thought what I see on the top-right is my bank balance that I can spend at anytime as I know I can spend at anytime. Encase I have missed something, can I deposit money in a bank account that I have? I'm wondering because of bank interest.

No the only thing with the bank is the loan. You can pay it off and you won't pay any interest.

Without a doubt, keeping your loan at zero is the best practice.
