I guess you read that wrong. It is March 2022 not March 22nd. Still pretty late in winter though.

Official end of winter in Germany is March 20th. I guess that's what they refer to. Anyways I just wanted to point out that they did not announce a date but a month.

Not really - it's written as '22 which the correct and common way of abbreviating a year (e.g., "Class of '19"), and the rest are written as seasons, all with '22 after them. It's quite obvious it means 2022.

I meant the date...it says winter which can be interpreted differently. Why create more confusion?
