Two questions.
1. If I purchased Farming Simulator 2017 for Mac and then upgraded to a PC a month later, would I have to re purchase the PC version OR would I be able to download the PC version and use the Mac key?
2. If I purchased the Mac version, would I be able to play with PC users OR only Mac users?.

If you buy the game directly from Giants you can download both the Mac OS X version and the Windows version of the game with the same key. And yes, with the Mac OS X version you can play with others that have either also the Mac OS X version of the game or the Windows version. The only limitation is that all players must have the same patch version of the game and the same mods installed.
