Metric to imperial in Farming Simullator 17
Re: Metric to imperial in Farming Simullator 17
Well, the problem is, most Europeans would definitely disagree.
Re: Metric to imperial in Farming Simullator 17
For dates i prefer ISO: yyyy/mm/dd, or without the slashes. You can indeed easily sort it.
When writing i use a comma as decimal separator because that is what has been taught in the Netherlands, but on computer I always use a period, because... well all programming languages expect a period.
Anyways, if you have 1234,56 or 1234.56 you know either way what is meant because the other way is invalid. same for 1,234.567 and 1.234,567. It is only when having a number below 1000 with 3 decimals behind the separator that there can be actual proper confusion: 456,456 can be 456456 or ~456, same for 456.456.
I get confused sometimes, mostly on Wikipedia

Well I understand the decimal and coma because it makes sense and this is what I was taught. Oh btw, European here. So you can't really say most Europeans if you have no evidence to back that up.Stegei wrote:Well, the problem is, most Europeans would definitely disagree.

Your chart is wrong!ErwinR55 wrote:Just use this chart
12" to a foot
3' to a yard
22 yards to a chain
10 chains to a furlong
8 furlongs to a mile!
Europeans can't count in anything but base 10! (in other words on their fingers)
Thank god we are leaving
oh and there is:
16 ounces to a pound
14 pounds to a stone
56 pounds to a 1/2 cwt
112 pounds 1 cwt (hundredweight)
2240 pounds to an imperial Ton

This discussion goes back way before I was born.
Just take a look at the world, if we can not even find a way to agree on how to say or type a simple thing as a date, measurements, or whatever ...
Honestly, I am surprised we are still here!

If only everyone would switch to that, easy sorting. I will have to start using this, problem is that I used the 09-25-2017 method since forever.W1der wrote:2017-09-25 ... nough said!

Metric is probably better for a modern world of international trade, widespread literacy, and computers, but customary units did have a logical reason for existing in the past and still have some positive qualities today. For one, it's usually easier to physically divide one customary unit into smaller units. By dividing a gallon in half and half and half again using a second unmarked container and your eyeballs, you get a pint. In metric, the comparable operation would be pulling 500 ml from a 5 l container, and you'd probably need a graduated cylinder to be accurate.

America just needs to move to the metric system and all of this confusion would be gone between us and the rest of the world.

You're not the only one in the world using imperial units. UK and Australia, from the top od my head. Though UK has a bigger gallon, iirc. And it's not rocket science to convert them.JohnDeere318 wrote:America just needs to move to the metric system and all of this confusion would be gone between us and the rest of the world.
