Okay CT.

#1: Get siloking mixer wagon. (It's the easiest one to do a tutorial on)

#2: Fill with one bale (Or 4000 l) of hay

#3: Fill with one bale (Or 4000 l) of straw

#4: Fill with 8000 l of silage

Straw is optional, you can just put 8000 l Hay.

Hope I helped!

if you have the Forage And Chips Silo you can fill it with loose hay and silage. that's how I been doing it. I put 11,000 hay and 5,000 silage. and also I made a lot of power food and I store it in the Forage And Chips Silo. so then it's ready to go when it comes feeding time. ( I also like to make hay that's why I put 11,000)

I heard that the straw bale goes first , a silage or hay bale next ( if hay , you put 2 silage bales after ( if silage , you put 2 hay bales in ))

Doesn't matter what order it goes in or what quantities once it's between the ratios on the mixer wagons.

^^Oh , okay because I watched a video on youtube on how to do this and he said you have to do that

The only thing that matters is the ratio in the mix. Straw can be between 0-30% and is optional, hay and silage have to be between 25-75% each. After that it doesn't matter what it is.

So you could have 50% silage, 40% hay and 10% straw or whatever you like as long as it stays in the above figures.

As Guil says, its all about the ratio, there's no hard and fast rules about mix order or it having to be an exact quantity of each like some YouTubers will tell you. I normally use about as much straw as I can get away with - its the cheapest and easiest to produce of all the ingredients. I typically use more silage than hay because I don't really enjoy making hay and thus have less of it (although it is worth less than silage).

On GCV, because I was playing on hard I started out with the Goweil RBA - with that you just use 1 bale of each type, job done. With the 16,000l mixers when using bales you need to throw in an extra hay or silage bale to keep the ratio just about right. When you get to the Peecon bales is really a hassle and loose is much easier to work with, especially now we have the Forage silo and the ability to mix directly from it.

I always start out with the little blue three point mixer because it is cheap and uses equal amounts of each ingredient and I like the compact size. I don't care for the arm loading function because it is quite finicky to operate so I always load bales with a front loader or use loose material and watch the capacity numbers as you load each stopping at 4000 for each. 4000 straw, silage, hay. So your numbers go 4000, 8000, 12000. I have also used the little blue mixer with loose material. You can setup piles and the small conveyors and load from the conveyors. Again, you have to watch the numbers as it loads and pile away from the conveyor just before it fills to the 4/8/12 totals of each. It is small in volume so once you get above 40 or 50 cows you are gonna be running around a lot just keeping up. (The little blue mixer is the Goweil...)

As others have said, there is no right or wrong amounts as long as the ratios are met. Personally I tend to go with a minimum amount of silage, mostly hay with a pinch of straw.

Hay is easy to make and cheap, silage takes a little more work and time and straw needs crops, plus you need to make it for bedding.

I use the Goweil on the sheep farm on the west coast. Three hay bales in it and can feed them for a few days before reloading.

I wanted to try using the PS4 share factory editor so here is a quick video I made for the subject of cow food. I tend to use the small Goweil mixer and in this case I'm using loose material that I have stored in the silo on the Altenstein map.

I do the 1 bale of straw, 1 bale of silage and two bales of hay. when I start I mix the bales at the shop and buy the bales. too bad you can't buy bales on the console. I use the manure fork because I can pick up two bales at a time, ie hay when I fill the mixer. I will have to check out the silo where you can mix the straw and hay. that is ideal. chas
