Is there any mods for increased reach of the hand for picking things up?

You want the game extension mod, that gives you options like autosave, as well as adjustment of your strength and reach.
If you're on console you're out of luck, though.

From the title page options menu you can change "Field of view".

I hated using the chainsaw until I fiddled with this setting.

Its not really changing your reach distance, just your perception of it.
