Plowing - 10% ? ? ?

Post by HC1Gunner »

A (3) prong question on plowing...

1.So if plowing adds 10% to your yield...

2. If you turn Periodic Plowing off, you loose that 10% ?

3. What happens when you use a No-Til seeder/planter, do you loose the 10% for not plowing, or retain it?

4. If Periodic Plowing is turned "on", then even if you use a No-Til seeder, you still have to plow at least once?

2. No. You get the 10% without having to plow.

3. After 3 harvests, you loose the plow bonus if you've plowed previously.

4. If you want the 10% bonus then yes, you have to plow at least once.

If you have ploughing on you need to plough ever 3 yields to get the 10%. Pretty much that simple!

Turning off plowing automatically gives you the 10% back. Also you only have to plow after every 3 harvests or when you first start a map. You can see if the field needs plowing in the fertilization tab of the map. The seeder you use has no effect on if and when you have to plow.

There is the odd exception with the seeder such as what's available in the kuhn pack, I'm sure there is mods somewhere that does it all in one.

Some cultivators are made for plough-less farming. Just make a search for the Horsch FX cultivators. The chisels go a foot deep. There are mods, which imitates this and will do ploughing and cultivating in one go. They require a big tractor though even for a 4 m cultivator. Thought at first these mods were "cheats". Now, I think they are spot on for modern farming.
