Grass and Hay for Cows
This is one thing I've always been curious about. Why do cows need both grass and hay? It's essentially the same thing! Sheep can take either grass or hay.

Hay is used in power food, that is the best way to feed it to them

Re: Grass and Hay for Cows
It really represents zero grazing which largely foreign to North American producers. Hay is important because it provides the dry matter required for ruminants to properly digest the most possible nutrients. Problem with zero grazing is it looks good on paper but requires a growing season most people won't have because grass doesn't always grow. Cows love consistency so major changes to diet will have negative effects.
