Lizard Pickups

Post by Farmer216 »

Giants! Please fix the WEIGHT of the Lizard Pickup Rodeo!

Its ruining my immersion.
I dislike four door trucks, so I like the look of the Rodeo MUCH better.
But, its totally worthless unless you only haul one pallet at a time.
Trailers tip it, multiple pallets tip it, multiple bales tip it.
Worthless.

Pickup Rodeo (6th Generation Ford F-100)
Game weight: 979kg = 2158lbs
IRL weight: 6094lbs
(According to : https://itstillruns.com/1977-ford-f100- ... 94750.html)

Pickup TT (13th Generation Ford F-150 4-door)
Game weight: 2794kg = 6160lbs
IRL weight: 7000lbs
(According to : https://www.caranddriver.com/ford/f-150 ... kup/387925)

I own a 1976 Chevy step-side, IRL. Its a 3/4 ton 4x4.
I use it to get wood, 1 ton at a time.
I've never had the front end lift up the way the Rodeo does.
She'll squat real low, but all four tires stay on the ground.

Am I the only one who feels this way?
I play on Xbox3 (Which they called the "One" for some reason)

You are reding gross weight as actual weight. Gross is what it can carry around including its own weight. Curb weight is what you are looking for and its only going to be around 3000lbs with a full tank of fuel as it is only 2wd and a regular cab. Also you have to take in account how the game engine works with weight aswell. I never have a problem with it, but i dont hook things to it that are unrealistic. You have to remember that even small equipment in this game is big. The smallest trailer is the Bratham E 8041 and its dry weight is 2689lbs with a tounge weight dry of 1000lbs, for reference a new 21ft travel trailer camper weighs in a 3100lbs but has a hitch weight of 340lbs and is at the very limit of what you can pull with an older 2wd pickup realistically. The smallest tractor in game is the zetor major 80 and its dry curb weight is 7385lbs and even it gets tippy with most equipment. The newer truck in game also weighs in at 4700lbs dry and a bale of hay can weigh 1500lbs with the sizes in game, and an IBC of fertilizer wights 2200lbs or just over a ton

A 1971 Ford F250 with the 360 c.i.V-8 engine & a 4 speed transmission with a single gas tank of 21 U.S. gallons weighed in at 3,785 pounds full of gas. The one my dad had would carry a maximum legal payload of 3,715 pounds. My '72' f 100 weighed in at 3,240 pounds with a 300 c.i. 6 cyl. engine. It would carry a legal payload of 2,760 pounds.

I had a 79 2wd regular cab. It was my pawpaws truck and the most we ever put in the bed was 1500lbs and it didn't think highly of it. I just think people under estimate the size of everything in this game.

Good catch .. I WAS looking at GVWR.

So for the F100 (Rodeo)
Curb of: 3542lbs
and for the F150 (TT)
Max curb at : 4850
(It also says max payload is 2150)

-=-=-=-
.. as it is only 2wd and a regular cab.
Both trucks are 4x4, btw. If you put the front bumper against a tree and give'r some gas, all four will spin.
-=-=-=-

I just finished weighing the trailers I use. And they are heavier than I would have guessed.
I also noticed the wheels are set really far back on a lot of these trailers.
That would increase the tongue weight significantly. (We cannot measure this in game)
The trailers I haul IRL are balanced 60/40 F/R.
The trailers in game seem to be balanced 80/20 F/R.

Maybe I'm reading into this too much.

I don't think u r reading too much into it.. but with that said I also don't think the pickup really needs to be stronger (although it could do with some toned down steering so its actually a bit more manageable)... no I think there just needs to be more stuff in the base game that's meant to be used with it.. on pc I use it to haul seed and fert bags and even for a few small bales but as neither of these things r available in the base game it wouldn't help a console user so u r stuck using the bed to haul pallets that make it stare off into the night sky or hauling a few "small" logs.. also some trailers that would hook up to a truck that size would be a nice addition to the base game.. I really don't think the truck is the problem so much as the lack of ways to properly utilize what is already there

As has been pointed out, I think the in game pickups behave fairly accurately when presented with pretty much any task in the game (I.e. poorly). And, I guess I’m fine with that, because they are light duty trucks. I have found some use for them moving lighter items with low tongue weights (like smaller combine cutters on trailers), but they are generally not all that useful. (I agree the handling is generally bad, loaded or not, though.)

That in mind, I would love an (accurate, stock, not “jacked-up” and “blinged out” like a teenage boy’s dream) 1 ton, ideally with a fifth wheel or gooseneck hitch (in addition to the conventional hitch) AND some trailers to match. (I know there are mods around, but they all seem to have something wrong with them, or they look like they would be better suited in a Diesel Brothers video game than in FS.)

I think that would be a great addition to ‘19.

well considering where we have come from I don't think its completely out of the question that we will get some better vehicle options for fs19.. I mean.. do u remember the truck that was in the base game for fs15? then 17 came out with 2 different models of trucks.. if they stick to this trend and have listened to the fans practically up in arms over a new heavier truck I would say its actually really likely that we will get one for fs19.. I would be cool with the 2 we currently have with the addition of a 3/4 or 1 ton (or both) so we have something to work towards on our farms in that area.. start off with the old lizard and upgrade as the funds and demand become available

I think lots of problems come with the engine being based around low speed driving. The game is mostly about driving under 35mph so when you have a truck that does 70+ it doesn't handle right. This is the exact opposite with something like burnout paradise, it feels sooo bad driving slow but it all comes together and makes sense when your smashing it down some mountain roads.

no its just the way the model was built.. ive played with more than a couple mod trucks that do not handle that way and r equally as fast or faster.. in fact while its not perfect the other in game truck handles way better.. they just made it too touchy.. hopefully they learn from this mistake and we get improved handling with not just the trucks but the other vehicles in game for fs19

I usually set cruise control at 22mph. Since AI only drives 20, I get to feel like I'm "speeding".
If I'm in a hurry, I'll do 35. If you drive first person, it reduces the touchy turning.

-=-=-=-

I sold the Rodeo and bought the TT.
The TT will haul all the trailers I use. It behaves like I think a truck should.
Although, It has the goofy 4 door/super-short bed look. *sigh*

Using the MF old harvester (1980's), 1 tracked MF(1970's), and 1 699 (1980's)
and a TT (2017) for my "old farm". *sigh*

I guess old fords weren't meant to work. **Chevy man here**

Damn straight!

Since 15 had a Dodge and 17 had the Fords, I'm really hoping 19 gets some GM models. And the game really needs a 2500+ with gooseneck option. And even on pc it is pratically impossible to find good truck mods, the vast majority are garbage and worse at pulling trailers than the rodeo....
