The trouble with implementing specialty crops like fruits, nuts, olives and certain vegetables, is they not only require special tractors, harvesters, sprayer and in some cases tillage...some require special growing techniques. In the case of grapes, they require vines. Therefore, you can't just roll across a field with a planter and a field appears.

Crops like soybeans (ast year) and oats this year are so mainstream, they can just be added into the fold seamlessly.

I was a bit surprised that we saw cane last year before cotton because it is a bit more specialized. Cotton can be planted with the same planter as corn, sunflowers and beets whereas cane requires a billet planter.

I believe the only reason we saw oats was because of horses. It used to be a much more common crop than it has become. But, it is easily implemented into the game.

The next crops we could see added to the game, with very little implications to the game could be root based...carrots, sweet potatoes, yams, etc.

If there's going to be a crop that literally changes the landscape of the game, it's probably going to be rice. It's a top 3 crop in the world. The reason we haven't seen it yet is because it does require flooding and land preparation. Also, being that rice isn't exactly a popular crop in Europe and the developers are European, that plays a factor as well.

Giants want to encourage all aspects of farming, that's why they added the sugarbeat cleaners, the conveyer belts and Sugarcane.

Being a rice farmer and knowing how much prep work it take to level and measure field level and different thing it’s take some big additions to get rice in the game in a way to where it’s teallt rice farming for example a field may look flat but in reality you can have holes and hills in the field that you have to pull levees around then place a 6ft spill in each levee to control the water flows between patties then you have to think about how you’re gonna get the water in the field as rice LOVES water and you also have to take into account the ground the rice is growing in as some will hold water well but others will *censored* up water like no tomorrow meaning you’ll have to pump more water into the fields then you’ve got to think about how to minimize the amount of levees in a field so as to make it all more efficient this is where precision leveling is a life saver and you can pull straight levees those things are AMAZING and will quite literally save you a headache because of precision leveling giants would have to find a way to incorporate 3D ground to take full affect of rice farming and add irrigation to the game 🥔potato for the long post

Of course...but there are also limitations to what Giants can do with the staff size they have. They have said as much with just incuding certain models within various brands. Hopefully with the office expansions, that will allow them to incorporate more elements.
