I'm sure it wasn't cheap but highly I doubt that it came at Class's expense. If Giants were in a position where they had to choose, the business decision is Deere hands down.

Adding brands & features does a few things for the product. It satisfies current players and attracts new players. Brands themselves are a big advertising tool. Yes, there are a lot of people who are fans of certain brands that are already playing. There is also a large, very large, group of people who are not playing. Seeing a particular brand logo on an item, in this case a game, is enough to convince some kids, parents of kids and other buyers to buy.

That said, each brand has it's own market size. In this instance, the Deere name is significant larger than Claas. In terms of revenue, 6.5 times larger. That's some serious brand power.

Overall, fans if FS seem pretty satisfied so far. The FS17 E3 Trailer received 35K likes overall and the FS19 E3 Trailer has already received 48K likes. Some of that is attributed to the growth of the franchise and popularity from FS15 to FS17 vs FS17 to FS19...but the response has been extremely positive. Positive enough that Giants deemed it necessary to make a reaction video.

2 separate brands.

It would sustain the hype if they announced one at E3, then another at Farmcon, for example. It stretches the hype :)
So they told the people at Claas that they would be announced second and they were OK with that?
They told Claas we are going to show Deere in the US and Claas in Germany.
Its all about location.
You wouldmt try to peddle white sheets and pillowcases in Harlem.

That would be a neat trick...without a Claas license. Even with, Claas sales in Germany aren't that great. The last numbers I have seen (from 2014) show the top 5 brands (in terms of new tractor sales) in Germany are Deere, Fendt, Case IH/Steyer, Deutz-Fahr & New Holland...in that order. Claas is most prevalent in France (#4 behind Deere, New Holland, Massey Ferguson and barely ahead of Fendt), which makes sense because that where they are made (formerly Renault).

probably giants are preparing a dlc of JD with more harvester vehicles or not, but I thought I saw read that lissertan said that class at least in fs19 it will not be possible that within 2 years more the license of class is obtained

Claas definitely isn't in the game as of yet. Lisertan confirmed it numerous times.

The surprise that they are talking about will be a JD combine to match the best of the other harvesters already in game and possibly the big tracked JD tractor

I think one aspect wrt what has already been announced for JD is maybe JD wants to test the waters, and limited what could be included? It is a very common practice when it comes to intellectual property licensing as it allows the IP licensor (in this case, JD) and licensee (here, Giants) to manage the risk.

Sure, it may seem "obvious" that JD should do well in the FS franchise, but that may not necessarily be the case to the lawyers responsible for protecting JD's IP and image (and it would be irresponsible for them to outright assume such). To them, this is likely "someone else trying to cash in on JD's good name/image" (grossly paraphrasing), and a critical factor for JD is "what do we get out of this?", noting that they are an equipment manufacturer, and not a videogame production company. They want to sell their equipment, not copies of videogames. They are also a for-profit entity, which translates into "how much is this agreement worth?", because they are likely looking at this in terms of not only exposure, but also financial compensation. As an example, ever wonder why officially licensed JD-branded (or any other big name) clothing is so expensive? I won't delve into the details surrounding costing and demographic representation :P

I'm sure the license cost was pretty much equal to a tractor
