Placeable decorations (trees) to expensive !?

Post by W1der »

IMO placeable trees are to expensive in the game.

I am not making any money out of them, I only place them to make the map look different and / or to make it a bit more challenging to drive.
For FS19 I would like to see them drop the price on this and also make an option for MP that only the admin can buy placeable objects!

Any one else have any thoughts on this?

Why would you buy trees to cut them down?
I don't think the placeable trees were made to make some money.
Makes a lot more sense if their purpose was decoration.
I assume people don't use Seasons, unless they say otherwise.

Maybe you should read what I wrote again ... or maybe I was unclear?

I am not cutting them down ... I do not make any money out of them ... this is why I am questioning the price of them (I think they are way over priced).
Hopefully they change this for FS19.

On PC I would just add the money back to the savegame. Is there a money cheat on console?

Yes, this is how I go about it (manipulating the xml).
Another workaround is to open the map in the editor and add the trees like that ... but then I cant use it as a MP map unless everyone gets my copy of the map installed.
But if this is the way we go around this issue ... GIANTS might just as well lower the prices for them ... :)

"Money cheats" are available on all platforms ... they are called wind energy convertor / solar collector / beehouse.
Buy one ... speed up time ... until you have the amount of money you need.

A bit more work to it and boring to look at.

It will be interesting to see how GIANTS has gone about this for FS19 ...
Rumors says that we are getting placeable shrubs also ... I wonder what a shrub will cost. :coolnew:

In real life, you can buy a full size tree. Transplanting them is quite an operation. I can only assume that buying a full size tree isn't cheap. It may be that the in game price isn't unreasonable.

OK, I googled on this.

Turns out that people buy "mature trees" to raise the value of their property.
However ... this feature is not available in FS17 and we can not sell our property.

I use the placeable trees purely for decoration , it would be nice if we had a few more options though and didn't need to rely on mods , bushes and shrubs would be good to , placed properly they can make a big difference to a map

That’s actually what I was going to point out. Ornamental or decorative trees are surprisingly expensive, and mature ones are absurdly expensive, especially after you factor in delivery/installation. So, in that respect, the pricing probably isn’t all that far off.

Then, if you consider that it can be next to impossible to get all your money back out of home improvements (despite what TV would imply), it might not be far off with the “can’t sell it” part!?

I believe the price was raised in 17 to balance the game.
In fs15 you could place trees near a sawmill, cut them down and sell them immediately for much more than the cost of the trees.
Giants lowered the selling price for lumber, and increased the cost of placeable trees to get rid of the exploit.
As you say, anyone can cheat money into their game if they wish, but I can see why the devs would want to avoid having one part of the game be vastly more profitable than any other. It's the same reason they nerfed silage for 17 IMO.

Well, in FS15 you where able to buy/place pine trees ... you can not do that in FS17.
The placeable e have trees are very time consuming to cut down for selling ... and I never even thought of doing that.
Plenty of suitable trees for selling anyways ...

Ya they are a bit expensive, but it’s realistic I guess, normally if I’m buying enough trees I’ll just cheat the money back in like some have said here, fruit trees are quite profitable, only problem I have with them is they don’t come with seasons mask, also you can’t cut them down

For me this is more abut changing the map without having to go in to the editor to do it and keep the game MP friendly.

I actually pay for my trees as my "cheat" involves editing the loan.
If I cheat 3 000 000 in to my game I also adjust the loan accordingly and raise the fee of the loan.

But out of these 3 000 000 in starter founds I would not be surprised if 1 000 000 is for placeable trees ... :blushnew:

Don't forget on console: The placeables trees use slots. If you cut them down and even remove the stump, the slots are still used and blocked.
