Starting Seasons on Existing game?

Post by Ritchie »

Not tried the seasons mod yet and was wondering if it can be started on an existing save game or do you need to start with a fresh game? (On PS4).

Any recommendations for what map works best with seasons? Not that far in to Oakfield farm so was thinking that would be a good one to start with but open to suggestions.

Hey,

We recommend you to start a new savegame. ;)
Please read the manual:
https://www.realismusmodding.com/mods/s ... r-gameplay

Map recommendations .. well can't really help you with that. :D

I've started Seasons on existing plays a few times on XB1. If you don't want to lose any crops its best to make sure all your fields are harvested first since Seasons will reset all fields to harvest anyway.

Any map will work with Seasons. Seasons ready maps just work a little better.

You are being too modest on that one :biggrin2:
If switching seasons on/off or changing season length are done at the right time they never create any problems whatsoever.
But I've also seen a lot of people doing it anytime they like and never complained of any problems.
You have made a very sturdy and reliable mod and you are being modest about it.
It can cope up with any abuze I can throw at it :biggrin2:

Thanks for the replies folks. I reckon I'll give it a go on my current Oakfield game then. Whilst I've put a bit of work in on that one it's not to the point that I'd be too bothered if the game had a fit and I had to start again. Although ploughing field 43 just about broke me

Hahah, perhaps, well it's more like that we don't want to deal with broken save game issues etc because that's just impossible..

Sure you can try it.. but it's at your own risk. Like the manual states.

I second that- harvest all your crops first as all your fields start afresh on seasons

I'm pretty new to seasons and have only played it on TVTOF so far- glad you said that though, I've been harvesting my save on Sussex getting it ready, I might hold off now... !

As far as I'm aware Sussex Farm at the latest update is seasons ready. Also I've never had any problems switching seasons on an existing game save (ps4). Currently harvesting and hauling all the grass in from Lone Oak before I turn seasons on. Currently have 8+ hours on the map

What I usually do is get my farm set up with equipment and what not without seasons as I usually change out of the starting equipment and make sure all owned fields are harvested and then save turn seasons on and load back in and hit X on ps4 go let it reset fields and have never had any problem with seasons

I would personally start it on a fresh save, as I tried it once on The Valley Old Farm, and found it somehow corrupted my save and I lost a 100hrs worth of work.

I'm willing to risk it on this particular save as I don't really have a plan or direction for this map and have thus far been winging it. I'll post up how I get on this weekend.
