Sibbershusum Mod CTD

A funny thing happened on the way to the farm...

I am currently chasing a minor issue in my game but it just escalated. I have a clean game installed with no issues but every once in a while when I find a map at the MODHUB site it won't start. I have about 20 maps installed and of that I have 3 maps that no matter what I do they just won't start, I get the selection screen and then hit start and then I get the "Start" screen and click and nothing, I have waited patiently for 10-15 minutes thinking maybe it just needs more time but no they just won't start, the other 17 that I have installed, no problem!
So here is the new one, I downloaded Sibberhusum and dropped it into my mods folder, just like every other mod I have, and then started a new game. I click on the save slot I want it in (and I even tried a different slot) select normal, it brings up the selection page, I hit start, I get the start page and select start again....in about a minute, maybe less, I get a 1 second blast of music and then CTD!!!! None of the three previously mentioned mods did this...gotta be something in the mod, right?

If anyone has a thought on both issues I willing to listen, because I have tried clean installs and I don't download mods from the other sites, not because there bad but because it is a choice. I enjoy all of the maps download and play, the 3-4 that I tried to play look like the are good quality, but if they don't start I can't enjoy!

When playing maps it's always best to remove maps from you mods folder that you aren't using. Some scripts (especially ones that add additional fruits) seem to load globally, not just on the save you playing on as most mods do, and it hits the fill-type limit (64) and crashes.

I've played Sibbershusum without this problem. So I don't think you can just conclude that the problem is with this map.

Once in a while it happens that one of my save games will not start. It has always been due to conflicts between mods. Not the map itself, but mods that cannot be used simultaneously. Some times the log file will give you a hint. At least I try not to use mods, that produce error messages in the log.txt file.

In many cases it takes a lot of trial and error to get it up and running. Deactivating all mods and activating them one by one, can be too slow, if you have many. Try to deactivate half of your mods, and see, if it helps. If it is works, add half of the still deactivated mods. Repeat the process until you have narrowed it down to the mod, that creates the conflict. Sometimes the conflicting mod will cause problems even if it is deactivated. Then it has to be removed from the mod folder. If it is a new problem, add the oldest mods first.

There are maps, that cannot run, if there are other maps in the mod folder. I skip these maps right away. And, if you use Seasons mod, don't activate more than one GEO mod.

Okay good advice and I will see what I can find in the log file. I don't want to blame anything, I just find it odd that it won't even start on a new game when I have others that do run on a new game. I will watch the log file and see what is what. I have added a few mods but blindly assume since they work with other maps then why wouldn't they work with all.

Thanks Kahfs for the great suggestions and pointing out some other ways to troubleshoot the issue. I love the hard work that modders go through to build a quality mod for the game. I tried..modding...and my patience dwindles in the process, so I realize how much effort goes into modding and certainly do not want to blame anyone's hard work. I will continue with your suggestions and see where I end up...Thanks again!

If anyone is still looking at this below is my log file and at the very end it says failed to load a file...I followed the path for the file and it is not in the XMLS file but MAP01 is its own file is this what is causing my CTD when I try and start it? I removed old maps and mods that showed errors so the log no longer has any errors in it or failed to load except this one. So the XMLS does not have that file in it but the file exists as its own file under maps and I wish I could figure out how to add screen shots so it would be easier to see what I am talking about.

Please let me know what you all think..and thanks for helping out!

I've just tested this map on a new career together with the required mods listed on https://www.farming-simulator.com/mod.p ... tle=fs2017 and it worked without issues. I also don't see the error you got at the end of the log.txt, therefore I would suspect that there is something wrong with the version of the map you downloaded.

I would therefore recommend to try to remove the FS17_Sibbershusum.zip file you currently have in your mods folder and then download the map again via the in-game ModHub (accessible via the 'Mods' item in the games main menu).

When the map has been downloaded and installed successfully please try starting a new career on this map with only the required mods and see if that works.

Now the end result. I gave up! I did what Don_Apple suggested I deleted the map from the Mods file, and then loaded it from the game mods then I started a new game. I deselected all the mods except for the required mods and actually got the map to start...HALLEJUHA!!! Not so fast on the celebration!!! So saved the game and then restarted the game and added two mods, two mods that I have being using since the beginning...game won't start again. Tried again and removed one mod, no start, removed the other mod...game starts! So if figured I would play it since I went to all the trouble to get it to load...well as I went exploring the map to see what was where and how to get to it...I found I could open the doors to the barns...but couldn't go inside them...like the calf barn...I can open the doors but and there are like six of them...but I couldn't get inside so I tried to take a tractor in...it was like I hit a wall 10 feet away from the door and it wouldn't let me drive around the barn either! So I took it as a sign from the Farm Gods that I am just not supposed to play the map! For the record...I did like the map!

Again thanks for all the helpful ideas...it just wasn't meant to be I guess!!!

This map did not run for me either. The XMLS folder inside the zip file is NOT recognized by Windows 7. If you know how to restore the file/folder structure to original state (See file structure of other maps) the map will run. But it requires rebuilding the file structures (editing a lot of files).

The path "maps/xmls/maps01" does NOT exist.
I moved all files to their original places and deleted the XLMS folder.
But all files involved in this process need to be editted to point them to the proper directory.

If you can understand German and watch the real life Sibberhusum videos, the map is very good btw.
