This bail not supported

I am farming on the FS17 Lone Oak Farm map on a pc. I am working towards placing cattle in my game and put up a number of grass bails in storage the issue frustrating me now is the Siloking Duo 1814 mixer rejects my grass bails with the message "This bail not supported".

The bails were made with a NH Roll-Belt 150 bailer. I have no trouble with wheat straw bails.

Has anyone else had this problem? Better yet does anyone have a solution?

It´s been a while since playing FS17 ... but I do not think it will accept grass as it is not a part of the food mix that it produces ... try hay.

Well I have already exposed my spelling capacity trying to spell "bale" so now I am going to ask what is the difference between "hay" and "grass"?

On LOF I own fields 36 and 37 both grass fields so this is where my bales are being produced. I don't see anything either seed or fields typed as "hay" so aside from buying 8 bales for $8,600 from the store where to I get hay?

Thanks very much for your responses.

Grass becomes hay when you use a tedder on it which in real life turns the hay over to dry it prior to baling. Looking at another thread you had bales disapper, were these grass bales as when using seasons grass either loose or baled will deteriorate and the disappear.

Hay bales will not disappear over time if stored inside or under a roof, protected from rain (if I remember how seasons work correctly).
Grass will "rot" as norfolk farmer said.

Thank you for your answers. I did not use a tedder so my bales were bales of grass that rotted and disappeared even stored under a roof as you said. My guess is by the next two days (Seasons days) my remaining bales will disappear. I discovered a post from FS15 that had explained how important it was to use a tedder. I now have a grass field mowed and waiting for a rain period to finish so I can tedder the mowed grass and I am certain this will solve my problem.

When I lived on a farm in the 50's we mowed and raked a "hayfield". We did not have a tedder so the grass/hay dried naturally. If it rained you re-raked it to turn the windrows over. When it was dry enough it was either baled or put up loose.

I am really enjoying the FS17 sim/game. If we had the kind of equipment in the game back in my day, I might of stayed on the farm.

Thanks for your helpful responses.

make sure that the wet crop symbol is gone after the rain before you use the tedder, it wont work otherwise.

You can tell that the crop is dry enough and that the tedder is working if the colour of the grass changes from dark green (damp mowed grass) to light green (dry hay) as the tedder runs through it.

All is well at my LOF map all the incorrectly done bales have dried up and gone poof and I have 42 lighter green bales in storage. It all makes sense now relating my past experience many years ago during "haying" season that you need to wait for the grass to dry before baling - we did not have tedders then. Using the tedder in the game eliminated that wait. The lighter color of the grass after using a tedder does make it a little more difficult to bale.

But all is well and I thank everyone for their helpful responses. I only wish I could run FS19 but my computer power is not up to the job.

Have you tried running FS19? The specs are not that much higher than for 17. If your PC will run 17 on Med it will probably run 19 on Low.

Back to haying, there is a mod for 17 that takes away the need to ted wet hay and instead allows it to dry in the sun after a certain time period. I don't recall where I saw it; maybe American Eagles Modding? It was a reputable site anyway, and the mod was made by someone wanting to simulate more conventional North American hay production where hay is often dried just in the sun without tedding, i.e. in climates where we don't have the dampness of parts of Europe and the UK to interfere with drying.
