AI Workers problem

Wondering why an AI helper will stop in the middle of a row that they are planting/harvesting/cultivating and turnaround and go back the other way. Nothing in their way. The simply stop, turnaround and head back in the next row. It could be in the middle of a field but I have noticed it happening more near the sides. Just curious why this is happening.
