MoreRealistic mod question

Hello all, I've downloaded a mod that is apparently adapted to the MoreRealistic engine. It's here if that helps:

My question is, is it safe to use this in the vanilla game? The description adds that if using it with MR, you need to add an MR_ prefix to the name of the mod folder, indicating that the mod can be used without MR, but it comes with the prefix anyway.

I'd appreciate it if someone could help me out.
