I don't know if this is possible but can you play just using a LAN cable between the two machines?

Wait! You're telling me 2 ps4's with separate accounts can't play on the same internet connection? Wtf? Since when? I'm Xbox one and me and my son do exact same but Xbox obviously and never had any issues. PlayStation must really *censored* balls

You can play with as many accounts and ps4 's you want to as long as your internett connection can handle. I have 3 on farming simulator here. No problem what so ever.
If you have problems I would recomend to check your settings in your router. Portforwarding...

Not sure of the specifics. But i know your connection can be modified to change it. Just like my cod days. A moderate nat or restricted nat was bad news. Lag, lag, lag. If at least one person in a multiplayer game has a strong connection. Ppl can join. Though the badly connected players will rubberband. So pointless.

Me and my gf try the same thing with xbox ones but always have lag with the non-host console. Even with 60+ connection speed. And yes nat type is "open".
