Can steam players play with disc players?

I want to buy the collectors edition of fs17, it comes with an disc. I know that i cant use my disc on steam but am i able to play with steam users when i am using the disc?

Me and my brother cant finde together in multiplayer. and he plays on steam and i played with disc ?? need a sulution before i going suicede
