Can i play with my friends?

So i was thinking of buying this game from the Publishers (giants). Some of my friends have it on Steam. Can i play multiplayer with them even tho i havent bought the game from steam? I know this sounds silly, but i just want to confirm before buying

Yes, all versions of FS17 from Steam, MAc and PC can play in same Game.
STEAM, DVD and Downlaodversion is all the same Game
When all use the last and actual Update/Patch.
