having problems connecting to my friends game

I cant connect to my friends game on FS17. we have the same version and mods. every time I try to connect to his game it says game is being loaded. please wait. it stays on that screen for 30mins or longer. we live in the same house. we play factory farm, and its better with more than 1 person. Does anyone have any ideas on bow to fix this. im out of ideas
