[EU/EN] Farm Life Online - Realistic Gameplay

Post by SifVerT »

Hello,

SERVER PRESENTATION

Welcome to Farm Life Online. This is a server present on the International server list. It runs 24/7 on a Dedicated Server with decent hardware and we use mods for more realism and for a challenge with better longevity compared to the base game. All mods are from Giants' Mod Hub and I have tried to keep the number of mods down and most of them are small.

We play on the custom map Ellerbach and amongst the mods we use the Seasons mod.

On our Discord you can directly download all required mods as one file (except the map file) so you do not have to click each individual file when you seek to join us.

RECOMMENDED REQUIRED SKILL

The mod Seasons and other mods used on this server add a greater challenge compared to the base game. It may be advisable that you play the base game tutorials and give the base game some hours before you test to play on this multiplayer server, in order to learn all the steps as a farmer before you face the real challenge here with multiple seasons. Besides that, we are willing to help players if there are any questions concerning the game mechanics, and if you have someone to play with and they are willing to assist you, you might join as a newbie too, it all depends on your patience and being prepared to lose your whole harvest because you made an error in your planning. We do not have any required skill level in order to play on the server.

GENERAL ADVICE

Start small in terms of equipment and expand on farmland first of all using cheaper equipment. Fancy tractors and equipment will quickly burn a hole in your pocket early on. However, buy equipment enough for those needs you have in order not to give yourself frustration because it barely will not move or take forever to complete a task. It is important to keep in mind that our realism mods will add such as wheel slip and that wheels may sink into the soil, so avoid taking a goods or pickup truck out on a plowed field as in the base game, and due to such parameters even if a tractor implement says it requires a minimum of 150hp it is recommended to have a 250hp tractor, for example, or it will have immense difficulty to power it if it is hilly or the ground it wet and horsepower is wasted on spinning wheels. Trailers have realistic loaded mass so they will feel as loaded as they would in real life. Keep all this in mind when joining to play on our server or it may invite for some great frustration.

Join us on Discord, if we are not around on the game server you can announce your presence there and we set you up.

Note

I DO NOT appreciate it if you join the server and first thing you do is write: "pass plz, pass, password". This is against the rules. If there is space you can have your own farm and/or you can join a farm if they are willing to let you join them and then you have to make a polite request which DOES NOT include (especially repeating) "pass plz, pass, password". Farms must have work chores for new players and the willingness to take in a new prospective team member, it may not be that easy.

MOD BUNDLE

All mods (except the map file) we use are now available for download from a link posted on our Discord with instructions or via this link: https://www.4shared.com/zip/bAcqZLA0iq/ ... nline.html. The files are unmodified Modhub Zip files zipped again into one larger Zip file so people do not have to repeatedly click dozens of times on mod links in order to play.

CALENDAR

We now have a carefully set up calendar system to follow by each player, for the mod called Seasons, to more easily plan your sessions and know when to log in to plant or harvest your crops, and know when it is the day you planned to sell them, for example. The system is set up in such a way that important highlights such as the planting and harvesting seasons occur on real life weekends for convenience reasons and we try to minimize the days of winter as we see there is mostly dead time during winters where all you can do is forestry and it becomes boring quickly.

Year Length

Each year in game is four real life calendar seven-day weeks with winter cramped into one of the weeks, i.e. the year is synced in a 28-day system. The winter plus early spring is narrowed down to only four days in total for convenience reasons while the rest of the year is played at a nine-day seasons system.

What kind of player is this server for?

Players on Farm Life Online are inclined towards realism but we do not seek to go to absurd levels where it gets tedious. Some players may roleplay a little e.g. they do not cheese the mechanics, infrastructure etc. We already have mods which force a bit of the roleplay parts such as that you have exit the vehicle to couple up your implements and trailers including connecting the PTO and hydraulic hoses. You cannot jump between vehicles and places but we have a mod which allows you to have passengers in your vehicle (if it supports having passengers).

Change:

Changed from three to four week year for various reasons. A year in game is now 28 days.

Welcome in to try our server and see what you think for yourself. It is a mature environment with a good sense of humor, we are not dead serious. The server is always up and I am active basically every day, my farm is large enough to have something to do the year around with a lot of little sheep :biggrin2:

Sorry if someone tried to join our server and found that a mod was outdated. I have updated the outdated mod on the server now.
