Cant find my friends game

So me and my friend cant seem to find each others games, so im wondering if its cause i need to port forward or if im doing something wrong cause it just wont seem to work, in 19 it was so easy to just host a game then people could join but it just doesn't seem to be that easy or am i missing something?
