animal built in placeables not showing up in mp

hi guys the animal built in placeables are not showing up in mp for me but my friend can see them and use them fine but i can do neither we are both on the same farm as they are linked in the default items xml as farm id 1 which we are both on and as i said he can use them but i cant? any help be much appreiated thanks
