The new conditions requires some new tools(snow)

Post by crash »

Im seeing some discussions on snow removal. Heres a idea for you modders:)

Tokvam is a Norwegian maker of snowplows, snowblowers, both pushed and pulled. and sand/salt spreaders. The pulled v type snowbloweris is the most used in norway.

And when the mountain passes are cleard in the spring the twin spin øveraasen are put to work. (øveraasen eqipment are used on airports all over europe)

There are quite a few mods already out there that can blow snow because it is just a tip type.
Examples:

http://ls-modcompany.com/filebase/file/ ... al-loader/ (needs a minor edit in xml to unload continuously)

in America(for example in Alaska, USA and Yukon, Canada Rockies Mountains) they have trains with Extreme snow blowers on trains :D

Here's an other video of a newer gen SnowBlower Train:

At many other locations over all North America they also have massive plows mounted on trains

I gotta say, that would be very amazing to have this option with the Seasons mod :D

It has to be a german /norwegan plow as the Train i gcv is a Norwegian Train made in Germany. NSB Di 8 tis their official norwegian name. They have Caterpillar 3516 DI-TA Enigne With 2200hp.

I don't see how your post is related to this topic...

Yeah but modders who based their map on North American places(No snow/Winter in Central and South America unless in high altitude) would have to make a snowBlower/Plow based on american models :\ As Far As I know, there isn't much differences between Euro/American S.Blowers/Plows... A generalised one would be nice enough.

Indeed, we need a snowplow mod where you can angle the blade to push the snow to the side (leaving a nice snow windrow) that will actually push the snow to the side rather than push the snow forward same as if the blade were perfectly straight... Or maybe the existing snowplow mods are fine and it just needs a game update to fix the physics for when the blade is angled.

+1, and I'm sure many will need a snowplow soon! In My case, it might be a questions of days...

I tried a bunch of shovels and levellers, and sadly the only one that does a decent job is the 11500 liters "Universal Light-Weight Bucket" for WheelLoaders, which is available on the official modhub... But it's still a bucket shovel, which need to be emptied once full...
Anything else isn't doing a very good job with the snow...
Levellers are only pushing snow, ending bumping up at around 1500-200l leaving bits of snow behind...

So we really need a good hearted modder who could make us an angle-able blade that pushes the snow on the side, as Real-Life snowplows...
Ultimately, we'd also need a snowblower to put on our tractors...

I think it's more of a game physics issue. There are snowplow mods where the blade can be angled, and I tried the Lizard Grader in the Grader/Loader pack mod. However, when the blade is angled on all of them that I've tried, the game just treats it the same as the stock leveler. May be desired behavior for the leveler (that I don't think can be angled), but angled or V-shaped snowplow blades should not behave the same way...

To be fair, though, I didn't get time to test all of the snowplow mods I was able to find, as the initial snowfall in my RSV game melted before I could test every last one...

Like theSeb posted, there is a snowblower-like mod that can be made to act as a snowblower (ie. can be operated without the need for a trailer) linked above, haven't tried that yet, either. I need to either wait for winter in my game (and I'm still in early spring because I'm using 12-day seasons and run 1x speed when I'm doing things), or start a separate game for testing purposes....

The issue with the 'acts like leveler' is probably because it does use the Leveler specialization and thus does not actually have code to do the new sideways-move-snow thing.

That has to be made.

Would it even be possible? If it is it'll be the hell of a coding job!

But it would be very useful in many of the game's works, like moving stuff sidways in tight places...

I don't know if anybody have this, but here in Quebec, we have "reversed plows": instead of pushing snow, it's made to pull snow, it allows to remove snow from closer to cars, walls etc.
In the case of clearing snow from behind cars(in parkings for example), there's no bumps/stumps where the car might get stuck.
Most of the times SnowPlowers have these plows on the front, either on the 3 points or a frontloader with a snowblower on the back.

How about adding the "script" of a windrower to a plow ... ?

It works perfectly.

The Mod author has updated it so that it will unload continuously without a trailer attached. Make sure that you get version 1.0.0.1. CTRL-I will turn that ability on and off (that's CTRL 'eye', not 'elle')

By the way, to everyone, especially modders: Seasons lessens traction when driving in snow.
We do support 'studded' and 'chains' wheels. Vehicle makers can add a new set of wheels to a configuration with those names, and the traction will increase :D

Dang I'd like to have some abilities and knowledge in 3d graphic design... but I tried a bit with Maya and blender that are suggested to work with FS17 but I can't get anywhere...
