John Deere -> Lizard for Consoles

Post by Jonny91 »

Why not remove the decals and names of some John Deere tractors and call it "Lizard"?! (And add some optional alternative color schemes to it ;)
Should work then for consoles, or not?!

No, it shouldn't. Because JD patents and copyrights body shapes, designs, and everything in between. So no, that won't work

ya, I need to go back to the nineties *running in the nineties starts playing*
Anyways ya Ford farmer is right, jd goes to such extent they copyright their machinery bodies, which is ironic considering their latest skid steer model had the same lifting style as bobcat

Well, there are only 2 lifting styles on skid steers, radial lift and vertical lift. Radial lift is the simplest where the ram connects to the boom with one pivot point at the rear, this causes the arm to create a circular motion when you raise the boom. These are usually smaller machines, have less lifting height and lifting weight and are generally considered better for eye level and lower work. Vertical lift machines are generally larger, have the highest lifting height as well as best lifting weight. Now the lifting system is far more complicated system with multiple pivot points and control bars.

Now JD's smaller vertical lift machines do have a system that is the same as the one Bobcat uses, but Caterpillar, Case and New Holland have also used that system. However JD's larger verticals have the different system which is similar to the one on newer Case/NH machines.

So really it's hard to not have the same lifting design when there are only so many ways it can be done and be called a vertical lift.

Although the same in function, they are clearly different with the bottom one being nearly identical to bobcat
