Need help in getting my map PC and console ready

Hi there,

I'm building a map from the ground up and would like it so it could be used on both the PC and console. How do I go about doing that? I know the fabrik script can't be in the map for consoles. My map has the original crops plus a couple of extras as well. Do I have to take these out? Lastly, do I need to add in some sort of line into the moddesc or the map01.xml?

Thanks

Extra crops will probably not be console compatible.

I would start with getting the map working on the PC first and in the beta area of modhub so you know the basic are accepted.

The way you get it to console is when you submit it you have to ask for it to be tested for console in the submission notes or else it'll just go into the PC bracket.

I usually put: "Do not approve unless it is console compatible."

Giants will test it on PC first and send back any issues for that. If it passes that test (which is a lot easier) then they will push the testing out to the console for optimization tests.

General rule on textures: Anything not transparent should be DXT1 format with mipmaps for anything in the game. Anything transparent should be DXT5 with mipmaps.
All normal files weather they have transparency or not should all be DXT1.

As far as the modDesc.xml, the version should be 39 currently and you should have 3 language translations (http://translate.google.com). Any updates should always have change logs.

Also the process of submitting to modhub is slow. Especially when you start getting into the console testing. Prepare yourself for 4-7 day responses as they are also testing a lot of other mods with limited staff from what it seems like. Patience is key.

Nope, extra crops wont be allowed for consoles. I'm not a modder or anything butttt.... if you want my 2 cents I say build the map based around consoles limitations instead of building it with scripts, this will cause you alot less pain when you try to get it to consoles, take twc for example, took about two months to pass testing for consoles, which possibly couldve been avoided, then you look at tvtof, that was build with less "pc features" and it passed within a couple of weeks of testing, just my two cents
