Having some issues with materials

I have been diligently working on my map when i encountered a problem. If i make a Cube shape and apply any texture to it it just turns a green color, and if i try to apply the normal map to it it crashes the giants editor.

This is when i use the file named roughGrass_distance_diffuse

I have also tried making a cube in blender and UV unwrapping and applying the same stock texture with the same result in the Giants editor. I really just need this to finish in the area behind the wall so the ground does not clip through it. If there is another way I would love to know that aswell.
