need help changing a mod

i downloaded the john deere r4045 mod for 17 but this mod actually takes dry fertilizer for some reason? any way im trying to change the function to accept liquid fertilizer and ive done everything i can find in the .xml file including changing the <function> from "fertilizerSpreader" to "sprayer" and changing the <filltype> from "bulk" to "liquidFertilizer" but when i go to the game i pull up to fill it with liquid, it gives me the option "fill sprayer" but when i press "r" it doesnt fill up but the option goes away like it did. do i need to change the volume somewhere? any ideas? here is the link if you would like to tinker with it yourself:

It looks like one has fillplane and the other has fillvolume. Also spray effect is different.
